Singapore Media Academy is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Mediacorp, the national broadcaster of Singapore, offering training, education and consultancy services to address the needs of the local and regional media industries.

This programme will equip participants with the fundamental knowledge of screen acting. Learn the various skills and techniques of script reading, voice articulation and character building through the guidance of Media Practitioners.

The 7 units of study are

Assessment

Module 1 to Module 3

  • Composite Assessment: Student will be given scripts to perform a scene on set. Assessment based on performance score sheet and rubrics.

Module 4

  • Performance Assessment: Student will perform a scene and be able to use props to do a fight scene. Assessment based on performance score sheet and rubrics.

Module 5

  • Performance Assessment: Student must be able to perform the rehearsed choreography as a conclusion to the dance component. Assessment based on performance score sheet and rubrics.

Module 6

  • Written Assessment: Determine understanding of the production process and to understand the filming set and performance assessment - demonstrate capability in using the cameras and working with directors and cast.

Module 7

  • Performance Assessment: Students will have to pick suitable dress and apply make up for a model.

Certificate

Students will be awarded the Diploma in Acting (Chinese) from Singapore Media Academy upon successful completion of all required modules.

Minimum Entry Requirements

  • Minimum Age: 18
  • Academic Requirement: Obtain Pass Grade in GCE N-Level subjects including at least B4 for Chinese Language (or HSK Level 6 or equivalent) and 2 other subjects or equivalent
  • Applicants who do not meet the minimum requirements may still apply and will be considered based on:
    • At least 1 year working experience in any industry; and/or
    • Oral interview or evaluation test by Singapore Media Academy to determine suitability for the course determine suitability for the course
