Foo Tiang Khuen, Juan (Fu Xiangjun, Juan)
Juan has been in the Singapore film industry since its resurgence in the early 90s and has been involved in up to 7 films. Having a 17-year grounded experience in the craft has made him to be the Singaporean voice for panels and he is a curator, writer, lecturer and judge for film events. He started off freelance as a grip, camera assistant and video editor but also read scripts and assisted in distribution for NDF, a film finance company. His development work has seen him incubate film projects through international film platforms such as the ‘Asia-Europe Coproduction Meeting’, ‘Hubert Bals Award’ and ‘Produire Au Sud’. Juan recently developed and sold a script to 20th Century Fox International Pictures.
He ran his own production company ‘Ground Glass Images’ which produced ‘Dirty Laundry’, ‘Hainan Chicken Rice’ and ‘Perth’; and later he moved on to media company Shooting Gallery Asia.
Continuing his interest to nurture and open doors for new film and media practitioners, Juan is also an academic board member of the Singapore Media Academy (SMA) and sits on the programme advisory panel for the Multimedia Technology & Design programme at UniSIM. He also trains student filmmakers from tertiary institutions such as NUS and NTU.
